Lakhs of people are arriving for Chardham Yatra during summer vacations, Ghatiyas have also become active for registration of Chardham Yatra. Offline registration on Chardham Yatra including Kedarnath, Yamnotri, Badrinath has been stopped but it is a matter of concern that for some time now, incidents of fraud in the name of offline registration are also coming to light.
During the investigation of registration on the Chardham Yatra route, some cases have come to light. In which a group of pilgrims were cheated in online registration. During the investigation, Dehradun Police found that the online registration itself was fake. A group of pilgrims from Jharkhand registered with a travel agency in Noida. The agency charged Rs 65,000 for registration.
The registration date was from 22nd to 25th May. A copy of the registration was also sent on WhatsApp group. During investigation in Rishikesh, the registration of the group of 11 members who had come from Hyderabad on Chardham Yatra was also found to be fake. The group from Hyderabad bought a package worth Rs 2.33 lakh from a travel agency based in Janakpuri, Delhi. Such fraud has happened with groups of pilgrims from Maharashtra and West Bengal.
