In view of the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and the gathering of a huge crowd of protesters at Jantar Mantar, the traffic wing of Delhi Police has issued a detailed and strict traffic advisory. Students and youth from different parts of the country have gathered in support of eminent educationist and social worker Sonam Wangchuk, admitted in Safdarjung Hospital. From a reporter’s point of view, common office goers and commuters traveling on the connecting roads of New Delhi today should use the alternative routes suggested by the police to avoid heavy traffic jams.
Sonam Wangchuk’s condition in Safdarjung Hospital: dependent only on water
A big update has also come out regarding the health of Sonam Wangchuk, who was at the center of this entire movement. Due to continuous deterioration in his health on the 21st day of his fast, he has been shifted to Safdarjung Hospital on the instructions of Delhi High Court and expert advice of doctors.
According to hospital sources and his wife Gitanjali Angmo, Wangchuk’s condition remains stable but he has still completely refused to take any kind of juice, soup or liquids despite the advice of doctors. He is continuing his indefinite fast by drinking only water. Wangchuk has issued a message on social media from the hospital ward itself, reiterating the need to convey his demands to the Parliament in a peaceful manner, after which the enthusiasm of the supporters at Jantar Mantar has increased further.
Delhi Police’s traffic advisory: Avoid going on these main roads
Traffic on several major routes of New Delhi has been completely closed or diverted due to the announcement of the protesters marching towards the Parliament House and heavy security cordon. Delhi Police has instructed drivers to avoid the following routes:

Completely closed route: Vehicular movement is completely restricted on Sansad Marg (from Tolstoy Marg crossing towards Connaught Place), Jantar Mantar Road and parts of Raisina Road.

Extremely busy and slow traffic: Due to heavy security checking on Ashok Road, KG Marg, Ferozshah Road, Janpath (near Windsor Place) and Baba Kharak Singh Marg, there are long queues of vehicles and traffic is moving extremely slow.

alternative route: Police have advised vehicles going towards Connaught Place or India Gate to use DDU Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg (JLN) or Ring Road.

The number of protesters at Jantar Mantar is continuously increasing under the leadership of CJP founder Abhijit Dipke and other youth leaders. In view of this, Delhi Police and Paramilitary Forces personnel have surrounded the entire area with several layers of barricades. Additional checking points have also been made outside New Delhi’s entry points and metro stations. Police officials say that they respect peaceful protests in any situation, but strict legal action will be taken against those who try to take law and order into their own hands without permission or break barricades and move towards the restricted VVIP security zone (Parliament House).
