Delhi Traffic Advisory: More than 35 major roads of Delhi will be affected from 11 to 13 September, Traffic Police issued a new alert of 22 diversions.

According to the traffic police, during this period, traffic movement has been regulated on the connecting corridors of Central Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area and South Delhi. In view of the possibility of heavy traffic jam on the roads, the general public has been requested to go out in private vehicles only when absolutely necessary and for travel. Under the traffic police advisory, entry of normal vehicles will be limited or restricted on more than 35 major routes connected to Pragati Maidan and diplomatic areas:

• Scope of Bharat Mandapam and Central Delhi: Mathura Road (Bhairon Marg to W-Point), Purana Qila Road, Shershah Suri Marg, Tilak Marg, C-Hexagon (India Gate), Bhagwan Das Road, Ferozshah Road, Copernicus Marg and Mandi House Square.

• VVIP Movement Corridor: Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Tees January Marg, Tughlaq Road, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road.

• Diplomatic and South Delhi Connectors: Shanti Path, Neeti Marg, Satya Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Kautilya Marg, Africa Avenue (Bhikaji Cama Place to Yashwant Place), Joseph Broz Tito Marg and Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg.

• Connaught Place and ITO area: Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Janpath, Tolstoy Marg, Barakhamba Road and Minto Road. Entry of heavy vehicles and non-destination commercial vehicles has also been completely stopped at ITO Chowk.

Diversions have been implemented at 22 strategic cuts and junctions to prevent vehicular pressure from flowing into the inner parts of the city:

• W-Point (Dr. Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk): Vehicles going towards Mathura Road and Tilak Marg are being diverted towards Bahadur Shah Zafar (BSZ) Marg, IP Marg and Sikandra Road.

• Patel Chowk and RML Roundabout: There is a ban on movement towards Parliament Street, Windsor Place and Mother Teresa Crescent; Drivers can use Ashok Road and Baba Kharak Singh Marg.

• Dhaula Kuan and Moti Bagh Flyover: Traffic on Sardar Patel Marg and Shanti Path is being stopped and diverted towards Outer Ring Road, Rao Tula Ram (RTR) Marg and Vande Mataram Marg.

• Lodhi Road Underpass and Neela Gumbad: Traffic heading towards Bharat Mandapam and Oberoi flyover is being diverted towards Barapula Elevated Road and Lala Lajpat Rai Marg.

If you have a flight or train between September 11 and 13, leave home with at least 1.5 to 2 hours extra time than usual:

• Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport): The traffic police has directed airport-goers to reach New Delhi Railway Station or Shivaji Stadium. Airport Express Metro Line (Orange Line) It is strongly advised to take. For those traveling by road, UER-II and NH-48 service lanes will remain operational from Dwarka and Gurgaon side. Commuters from South and East Delhi can take the route of AIIMS Chowk, Moti Bagh, RTR Marg and Mahipalpur flyover.

• New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS): Avoid going towards Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Minto Road. Passengers should take the route from Paharganj side to Outer Circle Connaught Place via DBG Road and Panchkuian Road. Another safe option is from Ashram Chowk via Ring Road to Rajghat and JLN route.

• Old Delhi Railway Station (ODRS): Use the route via Kashmere Gate ISBT, Ring Road, Hanuman Mandir and SP Mukherjee Marg.

• Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station: Reach the station via AIIMS Chowk, Ring Road, Ashram Chowk and Mathura Road.

• Delhi Metro: Train services will operate normally on all DMRC lines. Only select gates of Pragati Maidan (Supreme Court) Metro Station may be restricted for a short period during VVIP movement.

• Priority to emergency services: Round the clock uninterrupted ‘Green Corridor’ has been provided for ambulance, fire brigade and medical emergency vehicles.

• No-parking and ban on heavy vehicles: There will be a complete ban on entry of non-destined heavy commercial vehicles into Delhi. Road-side parking of any vehicle within 200 meters of controlled roads is strictly prohibited and violating vehicles will be towed immediately.
