The biggest gift of Diwali is being prepared for the people of Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Hours-long traffic jams and slow speeds are now going to get rid of them forever, because the 212 km long Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Access Controlled Expressway is almost ready.

According to the Road Transport Ministry, the trial run of this expressway has also started and there are full preparations to open it to the public by November. This expressway will not only reduce the distance between two states, but will also change the way millions of people travel.

Where to where will this magnificent expressway go?

This new expressway will start from Akshardham in Delhi and go straight to Dehradun via cities like Khekra, Shamli, and Saharanpur in UP. After its launch, the journey from Delhi to Dehradun will become non-stop and very comfortable.

The journey of 18 kilometers will be ‘in the air’!

The most special and exciting thing about this expressway is its initial part.

  • The 18 kilometer stretch from Akshardham in Delhi to Loni border in UP is completely elevated, that is, it is built above the ground.
  • This means that during this 18 kilometer journey, your vehicle will run above the ground on an elevated road without any traffic lights or obstructions.

Special gift for Delhiites

This expressway is no less than a boon for the people living in East and South Delhi as well as Noida.

  • Once it becomes operational, it will take only 15 minutes to reach UP border from Akshardham.
  • Those who till now used to cover this distance in hours while battling the traffic jam, will now be able to travel at a faster pace.

When will this journey start?

National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has said that the construction of the expressway is almost complete. Some minor technical glitches are being rectified rapidly, so that it can be opened to the general public around Diwali.

It is a 6-lane expressway, along with which a 6-lane service road has also been built, so that the local people living around the expressway do not face any problem in commuting.

This expressway will not only reduce travel time, but will also open new avenues of tourism and trade in Western UP and Uttarakhand, which will create a lot of employment opportunities.
