The politics of the capital has completely heated up after the court convicted former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Tahir Hussain in the brutal murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) employee Ankit Sharma during the North-East Delhi riots in 2020. After this historic court decision, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has opened an all-out front against Aam Aadmi Party and Congress. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta welcomed this decision and called it a huge and important step towards justice for the victims’ families. Also, he has demanded an immediate clarification from the top leadership of ‘AAP’ regarding his political links with the culprit of riots and murder.
When will the people of Delhi get the answer: Direct question from CM Rekha Gupta
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta fired direct questions at senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders—Arvind Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia—during the press conference. He asked when will the people of Delhi get a reply from the top leadership of AAP on this painful and shameful episode? The CM stressed that political accountability must be fixed towards the people of Delhi and the criminals who conspired to riot and take the lives of innocent people must be given the harshest punishment under the law. He reiterated that providing speedy justice to the victims and preventing such violent incidents in future is the top priority of his government.
AAP’s DNA is to protect the accused: Gaurav Bhatia’s big allegation
BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, while addressing a press conference, took on both AAP and Congress. He alleged that during the riots the opposition was busy giving political protection to the main accused instead of standing with the law and the innocent victims. Bhatia said, “Tahir Hussain was an elected AAP councilor when the IB officer was brutally murdered. The AAP leadership protected him instead of immediately expelling him.”
He also reminded the statement given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the floor of Parliament in March 2020, in which the Home Minister had clearly said that no accused in the riots will be spared and each one will be caught and punished. Making a scathing comment, Bhatia said that even today AAP leaders like Amanatullah Khan are opposing the court’s decision, which clearly shows that supporting criminals is the real DNA of this party.
Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi accused of inciting riots
Attacking the Congress, Gaurav Bhatia said that after the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was passed in the Parliament, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi spread the lie among the Muslims of the country that their citizenship would be taken away, which infuriated the minority community and created a situation of riots. He asked that the Congress leadership should answer today that how many Muslims in the country have lost their citizenship after the introduction of this law? Taking aim at Rahul Gandhi, he said that when Rahul Gandhi visited the riot-affected areas in March 2020, he went to the mosque but did not meet the victim’s family of the martyred IB officer.
‘Tahir Hussain is just an actor, the real mastermind is someone else’: Kapil Mishra
Delhi Government Minister Kapil Mishra made a very serious claim on this entire incident and said that Tahir Hussain is just a face (actor) of this bloody game, whereas the real mastermind of this entire Delhi riot is someone else behind the curtain. Mishra alleged that AAP and its allies have been continuously making malicious attempts to protect Tahir Hussain, Umar Khalid and other rioters from the clutches of law. He said that the people in power in Delhi at that time were only engaged in appeasing a particular class and no concrete steps were taken to protect and save Hindus.
