Mumbai: The Delhi Police has informed the Delhi High Court that the disability certificate submitted by former IAS trainee officer Pooja Khedkar to the UPSC is likely to be fake.
On September 2, three days before the hearing on Pooja Khedkar's anticipatory bail on Thursday, the Delhi Police submitted a second status report in the High Court.
Pooja Khedkar submitted one disability certificate each to the Union Public Service Commission in the year 2022 and 2023 respectively. The medical certificates allegedly issued by the concerned medical authority of Ahmednagar were confirmed from the concerned authority, but neither of the two certificates was found in the records of the concerned medical authority.
Pooja Khedkar was given two certificates on January 18, 2021. One certificate stated that she was blind in both eyes (40 per cent disability) and mentally ill (20 per cent disability). Another certificate showed hearing loss in the right ear (10 per cent disability), locomotor disability (15 per cent, difficulty in walking) and blurred vision in both eyes (40 per cent). Delhi Police said it was reported that this second certificate was not on record with the concerned medical authority.
On August 1, Delhi's Patiala House Court opposed Khedkar's anticipatory bail plea. The Delhi High Court granted Khedkar interim protection from arrest from August 12 to August 21. Which was extended by the Delhi High Court till August 29, which was later extended till September 5.
Opposing Pooja Khedkar's anticipatory bail plea, Delhi Police said that Pooja Khedkar is facing serious charges of fraud. Khedkar said that UPSC has no right to disqualify her and this right belongs only to the Personnel Department of the Central Government.
