Delhi: Monsoon ends with 7.6 percent more rainfall than normal: IMD | News India

India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday that the monsoon season of 2024 has ended. This year the country has received 7.6 percent more rainfall than normal. According to IMD, this season there has been heavy rain in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Also, IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain for Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Besides, heavy rains have been predicted over southern states Kerala and parts of Tamil Nadu, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland with isolated heavy rains likely over some parts on October 2 and 3. Apart from this, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura from October 1 to 6. The Meteorological Department said that there are chances of rain in South India. IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain for many areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala from 1st to 5th. The Meteorological Department said that there is no possibility of significant rain in some parts of North-West and Central India for the next one week.

The Meteorological Department also said that the process of withdrawal of south-west monsoon had started in some parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir and now the monsoon season is over in the country. In the current year, there has been 7.6 percent more rainfall than normal.
