Delhi: Indian students are forgetting America, Britain and turning to Netherlands and Finland

Not able to get an H-1B visa in the US or frustrated by the strict visa rules in Canada, UK and Australia? But you know, those days are over when Indian students pursuing international education considered these countries as their dream destinations. Indian students are now increasingly turning to non-traditional education venues. Shalini Lamba, chief executive of DuDigital Global, says the number of students studying abroad has increased by about 1.5 lakh since 2012, reflecting the growing interest in international study and migration opportunities. With recent changes in visa rules in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, many people are now considering alternative destinations.

Students now see more opportunities in Europe: Experts

Lamba says that more and more Indian youth are now moving towards Europe. Study centers like Ireland, Netherlands and Finland are becoming very attractive for Indian talent. Similarly, in Asia, study and migration options are also emerging in Singapore and South Korea. He also said the EU is also encouraging legal immigration to address labor shortages, skills gaps and boost economic growth. According to a study conducted by RedSeer, many Indian students are also opting for alternative destinations like Lithuania, Estonia, Turkey, Malta, Taiwan and South Korea.
