Asia is the fastest growing region in the world and all global superpowers want to expand in Asia. According to the Asia Power Index Report 2024 by the Australian think tank Lowy Institute, India's power in Asia is increasing and for the first time it has overtaken Japan to reach the third position.
The US is first and China is second. The Asia Power Index ranks Asian countries based on their resources and influence. Countries are evaluated based on criteria such as military capability, defense networks, economic capability and relationships, diplomatic and cultural influence, resilience, and future resources. Of these, future resources are determined based on projected economic and conservation resources in 2035 and working-age population projections in 2050.
