
News India Live, Digital Desk: Delhi igi airport: In the national capital, heavy rains and thunderstorms in the national capital disrupted the flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport, due to which the route of at least 13 flights had to be changed.
According to airport sourcesThe route of 12 of the affected flights was changed to Jaipur, while an international flight was sent to Mumbai due to adverse weather in Delhi.
Airlines and airport officials sent a warning message on social media, in which passengers were told about potential delays and disruption. One of the major airlines of Delhi, IndiGo posted on X (East Twitter), saying, “Our flight schedule has currently been affected due to heavy rains and thunderstorms in Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata.”
IGI Airport Director Delhi International Airport Limited (Dial) has also issued a statement on X, warning the passengers: “Due to bad weather and thunderstorms in Delhi, flight operations at Delhi Airport may be affected. Our on-team teams are working closely with all stakeholders to get uninterrupted and skilled experiences.”
Other airlines like Air India and SpiceJet also reiterated the same thing. Air India tweeted, “Flights from Delhi may be interrupted due to rain and thunderstorms this evening.” SpiceJet said, “Due to bad weather (thunderstorms with heavy rains) in Delhi (DEL), all departure/arrival and their resulting flights may be affected. In addition, heavy rains may affect traffic movement at the airport.”
This disruption has occurred in the weather amid the increasing demand for travel during the summer season, which has increased the problems of both airlines and passengers. The Indian Meteorological Department had already released thunderstorms in Delhi with thunderstorms, which is struggling with scorching heat and humidity.
Passengers have been instructed to confirm their flight position from the airlines concerned before reaching the airport.
