Delhi High Court has directed to quickly implement PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) in the capital. The court has ordered the Delhi government and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the scheme by January 5, 2025.
As reported by Live Law, a division bench of Justice Pratibha M Singh and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora said that the scheme is aimed at providing better health services to the people of the capital and it is mandatory to implement it completely. The court made it clear that if this scheme is not implemented, the citizens of Delhi will be deprived of the financial assistance and facilities available under it.
Despite the code of conduct, signing of MOU is necessary
The court also said that even if the election code of conduct is implemented in Delhi, it will be mandatory to sign the MOU. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the interests of the citizens of Delhi. The Court emphasized the fact that when 33 states and union territories of the country have already implemented the scheme, it would be unfair not to implement it in Delhi.
This order is being considered an important step for the development of health facilities in Delhi and to benefit the common citizens. The capital will benefit from additional health infrastructure and resources under the PM-ABHIM scheme.
