Congress party has received a big blow from Delhi High Court. The court dismissed petitions challenging the initiation of tax reassessment proceedings by tax authorities against the Congress for a period of four years. Along with this, until any decision is taken, the bank accounts of Congress will also remain frozen.
What did the court say?
A bench of Justices Yashwant Verma and Purushendra Kumar Kaurav said that we have refused to interfere in the reassessment of tax for another year and the appeal against that decision is again dismissed. The current case is from assessment year 2017 to 2021.
Congress filed a petition
The Congress had filed the petition against the tax reassessment proceedings conducted by the Income Tax Department for 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17. It is noteworthy that last month, Congress leader and Treasurer Ajay Maken had said that the Income Tax Department has frozen the bank accounts of his party. The bank account of Youth Congress was also frozen.
We don't have money- Congress
Maken said that at present we do not have money to spend, pay electricity bills, pay salaries to employees. Everything is being affected. Not only Nyay Yatra, but all political activities are being affected. It is noteworthy that the Income Tax Department has collected Rs. Order for recovery of Rs 210 crore was given.
