Delhi: Eastern governments neglected development of Northeast: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Welcoming all the dignitaries in the program, Prime Minister Modi said, today Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Day. He said that the Constitution made by Baba Saheb Ambedkar has completed 75 years.

Which is a great inspiration for all the citizens. The Prime Minister paid tribute to Baba Saheb Ambedkar on behalf of all citizens of India. Noting that Bharat Mandapam has been witness to many national and international events including the successful hosting of the G-20 meeting in the last 2 years, PM Modi said, today’s event was even more special. He said that this program has made the entire Delhi shine with the different colors of North-East India. Saying that the first Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav will be celebrated in the next 3 days, PM Modi said that the event will show the full potential of Northeast India to the country and the world. He said the event will feature several trade fairs and showcase various products from the North-East along with culture, food and other attractions. He further said that the event will inspire people with various achievements including the Padma awardees present. Describing the program as unique and first of its kind, Shri Modi said that this program will open doors to abundant investment opportunities in North-East India. He said that this is a huge opportunity for farmers, workers and artisans as well as investors from across the world.

21st century will belong to Asia: PM Modi

Stating that the 21st century belongs to the East, that is, to Asia and India, the Prime Minister expressed his strong belief that India’s growth story in the future lies in Eastern India and the Northeast in particular. He said that in the last decades, India has seen the rise of big cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad. Modi stressed that in the coming decades, India will see new possibilities in cities like Guwahati, Agartala, Imphal, Itanagar, Gangtok, Kohima, Shillong and Aizawl and programs like Ashtalakshmi will play a major role in this.
