Delhi-Amritsar Expressway – Motorists will soon be able to travel on 9 expressways including Delhi-Dehradun, Delhi-Amritsar, Kanpur-Lucknow. The completion date of these expressways has also been fixed. Currently, a total of 21 green field expressways are being constructed across the country by the Ministry of Road Transport.

Their total length is 8288 km. The construction of all these expressways started in 2022. Out of these, 9 expressways will be ready by March next year. Their length is 2777 km. The Ministry of Road Transport has revised the deadlines of all the expressways under construction.

These expressways will be ready soon

Ahmedabad-Dholera, Bengaluru-Chennai, Delhi-Amritsar-Katra, Kanpur-Lucknow, Ambala Kotputli (ready), Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam, UR Second, Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun and Nagpur-Vijewada, Kota-Ujjain-Indore will be ready by March 2024.

There are 21 expressways

Delhi–Mumbai, Ahmedabad–Dholera, Bengaluru–Chennai, Delhi–Amritsar-Katra, Kanpur–Lucknow, Ambala Kotputli, Amritsar–Jamnagar, Raipur–Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad–Visakhapatnam, UR Second, Chittor Thatcher, Bengaluru Ring Road, Delhi–Saharanpur – Dehradun, Durg, Raipur–Arang, Surat-Nashik-Ahmedabad Solapur, Solapur-Kurnool-Chennai, Indore–Hyderabad, Kota–Indore, Bengaluru–Vijayawada, Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata and Nagpur–Vijayawada Express are under construction.

All expressways will be operational by 2026

According to the Road Transport Ministry, the Bengaluru-Vijayawada and Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata expressways will be ready by 2026-27. The rest of the expressways will be ready by 2025-26.

The construction of some of these expressways is getting delayed. According to the Ministry of Road Transport, delays in land acquisition, clearances from the environment and forest departments, revenue issues to the contractor or other unforeseen events cause delays in construction.
