Delhi: All doctors in the country will have a unique ID number: Register with NMC | News India

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to give a unique identity to all MBBS doctors of the country. For this, NMC has also launched a portal on which the registration process of all eligible MBBS doctors has started.

The National Medical Register is a database where all registered doctors will be registered. The authenticity of the doctor will be confirmed through the Aadhaar ID. The NMC recently said in a public notice that all MBBS doctors registered on the Indian Medical Register will have to re-register on the NMR.

All medical colleges, institutes, state medical commissions are interlinked on the portal. The notice states that some data will be visible to the general public and some other data will be visible only to NMC, SMC, National Board of Examinations and Medical Institutions and Ethics and Medical Registration Board.

To start the registration process doctors will need their Aadhaar ID, a digital copy of their MBBS degree certificate and a registration certificate from the State Medical Council, Medical Council of India. Additional details like registration and eligibility can be entered manually. The application is then automatically forwarded to the respective SMC (State Medical Commission) for verification. The SMC will then forward the application to the respective college or institute for further review.

After verification, the NMC will issue an NMR ID. This application will be forwarded to the NMC after successful verification. An NMR ID will be issued by the NMC after verification. During this process, the doctor can also opt to join the healthcare provider registry, which will connect him to the digital healthcare ecosystem, the notice said. Through this portal, all stakeholders, including SMCs and academic institutions, can verify these further applications from a single platform.
