Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's allegation that a person holding a constitutional post in the country was trying to destroy India's economy was referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's comments on a report by US short-sellers Hindenburg Research.
In this report, India's market regulator SEBI chief Madhavi Puri Buch has been accused of colluding with the Adani Group. She has been accused of investing heavily in Adani Group's offshore funds abroad. However, Buch and Adani Group have denied these allegations. Addressing law students at the National Law University on Friday, Dhankhar said that the extent to which they are talking negatively about destroying India's economy is serious and worrying.
Campaign to defame the country's economy
The Vice President said that a well-organised propaganda campaign has been launched in the media by a person holding a constitutional post. The youth should work to stop such biased and selfish false propaganda. We should not allow such false propaganda. This is happening at the cost of our upliftment and development. Speaking on the Hindenburg Report, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi demanded the Supreme Court to intervene in the matter. Dhankhar asked the students whether the Supreme Court in other countries takes much cognizance in such cases. The jurisdiction of the organisation is determined by the Constitution of India.
