It has been 17 years since Deepika Padukone entered Bollywood. Recently, she talked about her film journey in an interview. She said that she has been working in Bollywood for such a long time but she never had to give an audition. Deepika said, 'About ten years ago when I started my journey in Hollywood, I had to give an audition which was a completely new experience for me. I had never given an audition before. I was not a trained actress nor did I train in any fancy acting school. Whatever I have learned, I have learned while working.' Deepika also revealed that when she signed her first film 'Om Shanti Om', director Farah Khan did not take any screen test or audition for her. Deepika said that even after 'Om Shanti Om' she did not have to audition for any Hindi film. In this interview, Deepika also talked about her Hollywood journey along with Bollywood. She told how she made her place in Hollywood.
I came to Mumbai for modelling: Deepika
In an interview, she said, 'I came to Mumbai for modelling. Atul Kasbekar (Photograph) was the first person who told my parents that I should come to Mumbai. Deepika further said, 'Farah was making 'Om Shanti Om' at that time and she needed a newcomer. She could have taken any established actress in the film, but she chose a newcomer. She saw all my advertisements and decided that I was perfect for this role. She did not even know me then. She saw me in advertisements and took the risk of casting me opposite Shahrukh.'

XXX: Return of Xander Cage made a grand entry in Hollywood
'Om Shanti Om' was released in 2007, in which Deepika was opposite Shah Rukh Khan. After this, Deepika never looked back and gave many hit films. In 2017, she made her Hollywood debut with Van Diesel's film XXX: Return of Xander Cage. Earlier in an interview, Deepika had said that luck and chance played an important role in getting 'Om Shanti Om'. Deepika got a lot of appreciation in Hollywood for this film. Along with this, after this film, Deepika also got offers for many Hollywood films.
