Decorate polling stations in such a way that a festival like atmosphere is created: Ravi Kumar

Ranchi, March 5 (HS). Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar on Tuesday conducted a surprise inspection of some booths in two districts, Jamshedpur and Seraikela-Kharsawan. When the ground reality was not found to be as per the standards of the Election Commission, he issued a demi-official letter to all the Deputy Commissioners cum District Election Officers of the state and gave an ultimatum of three weeks. It has also been said that there should be better arrangements than the prescribed standards.

Ravi Kumar said that if the polling stations are clean, well-groomed and equipped with minimum requirements, then a good environment will definitely be created and our objective of 'family-voting' will be strengthened. He said that just as we celebrate our festivals with cleanliness and decoration, so that elections can also be celebrated like a festival, first of all we have to make our polling centers clean.

During this time, local officials including Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer and Superintendent of Police of the respective districts were present with him.
