The Champions Trophy 2025 was held in Pakistan, but the performance of the Pakistan cricket team in the tournament was very disappointing. Far from winning the title, the team failed to win a single match throughout the tournament. After the conclusion of the Champions Trophy, now the Pakistan Cricket Board i.e. PCB has decided to reduce the match fees of the players participating in the upcoming National T20 Cup.

Match fees reduced by up to 75%

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has drastically cut the match fees of the players in the upcoming National T20 Cup. Now only 10 thousand Pakistani rupees will be given to the players participating in the tournament. Which is 75% less than the previous season. In this tournament, the players used to get 40 thousand rupees per match. Whereas in the year 2022, this amount was 60 thousand rupees.

PCB told the reason

A PCB official clarified that the cause of the match fee cut is not a financial crisis. The board believes that the increase in the number of tournaments in the domestic calendar has created more opportunities for the players. The last National T20 Cup held in December 2024 was played with only 5 teams. While many players also participate in other tournaments like President’s Trophy. From where they get monthly salary. PCB believes that despite the match fee cut, the total earnings of the players will not have any significant impact.

National T20 Cup 2025 will be held in three cities

The National T20 Cup 2025 will start from March 14 and will be held in three cities – Faisalabad, Lahore and Multan. A total of 39 matches will be played throughout the tournament. The final match will be played in Faisalabad on 27 March. On the other hand, Pakistan’s national team has left for the same month to play a series of 5 T20 and three ODIs against New Zealand.
