New Delhi, July 19 (HS). Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has reserved the decision on framing of charges against Jagdish Tytler in the Pulbangash Gurdwara violence related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Special Judge Rakesh Syal ordered the next hearing on August 2.

During the hearing, lawyer Manu Sharma, appearing on behalf of Jagdish Tytler, had said that the CBI had filed two closure reports in this case. He said that in 2009, a charge sheet was filed against co-accused Suresh Kumar Paanwala, who was acquitted by the trial court. Manu Sharma said that there was no witness in this case from 1984 to 2022-23. How can the witnesses made after such a long time be trusted.

Earlier, Manu Sharma had demanded that Jagdish Tytler be acquitted in this case. Taking the name of Gurpatwant Pannu on behalf of Jagdish Tytler, it was said that since Pannu was the lawyer of the witnesses and he had been declared a terrorist by India, there is no point in running a case against Jagdish Tytler and he should be acquitted in this case.

In this case, the CBI had completed the arguments on framing of charges on 16 April. On 4 August 2023, the Sessions Court of Rouse Avenue Court granted anticipatory bail to Jagdish Tytler. The court took cognizance of the charge sheet filed against Jagdish Tytler on 26 July 2023. The CBI has charged Tytler under sections 147, 109 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code in this case.
