Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken a U-turn after talking about 100 percent reservation for locals in private jobs in the state. On Wednesday, the state government deferred the decision on reservation for locals in the private sector. Earlier, CM Siddaramaiah had posted a post on social media on Tuesday welcoming the cabinet's decision.
Which was deleted on Wednesday. In the new post, he clarified that there will be 50 percent reservation for local people in management posts and 75 percent reservation in non-management posts in jobs in private industries and other institutions in Karnataka. Our government wishes that Kannada people get a chance to live a comfortable life in their motherland. Our government is a pro-Kannada government. The welfare of Kannada people is our priority. A source close to Siddaramaiah said that the Chief Minister has corrected his social media post. The proposed bill does not talk of 100 percent reservation in private jobs.
Who will be considered a local candidate?
As per the provisions of the bill, people born in Karnataka, living in Karnataka for more than 15 years and able to speak, read and write Kannada language will be considered locals. They must have a secondary school certificate with Kannada language. If not, they will have to pass a Kannada language proficiency test conducted by a nodal agency decided by the government.
