New Delhi, 30 November (HS). Delhi’s Patiala House Court has today again postponed the decision on the closure report filed by Delhi Police in the case registered under the POCSO Act against former Indian Wrestling Association President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The decision has been postponed due to non-availability of Additional Sessions Judge Gomati Manocha. The court ordered the verdict on the closure report to be announced on January 16, 2025.
Earlier, the court had postponed the decision on 27 September, 20 May, 23 April, 2 March, 11 January and 25 November 2023. The court had reserved the decision for 01 August 2023. During the hearing, the victim minor wrestler and his father had expressed satisfaction over the police investigation. Both the minor wrestler and his father recorded in-camera statements. These cameras mean that no one other than both the parties is present during the hearing. The court, while hearing the closure report of Delhi Police, had issued a notice to the complainant minor wrestler on July 4, 2023.
On June 15, 2023, Delhi Police filed a report in Patiala House Court and gave clean chit to Brij Bhushan Singh. Delhi Police has given a clean chit to Brij Bhushan Singh in the case registered under the POCSO Act on the complaint of a minor wrestler and has demanded quashing of the charges. Delhi Police said that no concrete evidence has been found against Brij Bhushan Singh in the POCSO case.
A case is also going on against Brij Bhushan in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court regarding allegations of sexual exploitation of female wrestlers. Rouse Avenue Court has started the trial in this case from July 26. On June 15, 2023, Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet in Rouse Avenue Court. In the charge sheet, charges have been made under sections 354, 354D, 354A and 506 (1) of the Indian Penal Code.
