The Indian automobile market will once again see a confluence of nostalgia and modern technology. Tata Motors is bringing back its iconic SUV Tata Sierra in a new form. Known for its unique window design and strong road presence in the 1990s, the Sierra returns in 2025 as a more feature-packed model. The company is making the global debut of this car, while it will be launched in India on November 25.
what is special?
Looking at the new Tata Sierra, it seems that the design team has given a new identity to the classic Sierra. At the front, the sculpted bonnet, shining crystal-like character lines, blackout grille and integrated Sierra nameplate with Tata logo give this SUV a distinctive identity. Apart from this, the thin LED headlamps, wide LED light bar and LED fog lamps give it a very modern look.
A modern SUV will be created
The side profile looks quite long and straight. The dual-tone alloy wheels, dual-tone paint finish and different colored coatings on all four pillars recreate the wrap-around glass effect of the old Sierra. Roof rails, flush door handles, black ORVMs and wide wheel arches further add to the strength of this SUV.
At the rear, there is also a tailgate, connected LED tail-lamps and a large Sierra nameplate, giving it the identity of a modern SUV. Inside, the Tata Sierra will see the company’s triple-screen layout for the first time, which includes a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment screen and a co-driver display. The dashboard design is new and different from the existing Safari and Harrier. However, the HVAC controls, gear selector, and steering wheel look familiar.
What’s new in features?
The second line has different headrests, window shades and premium upholstery. It is expected to include features like Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control and connected car technology. Tata Sierra will be launched in both ICE and EV variants. The ICE version will be launched first, followed by the Sierra EV next year.
How much does it cost?
The ICE model will be available with 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. It is expected that manual and automatic gearboxes will be available in it. The new Sierra is expected to be priced between ₹13.50 lakh to ₹24 lakh (ex-showroom).
