Debt-ridden Pakistan will pay Rs 72 crore as compensation for the killing of Chinese citizens

Chinese killed in suicide attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa : Pakistan is going through an economic crisis and inflation is also increasing continuously. Along with the economic crisis, there are frequent terrorist attacks in Pakistan, which is facing a security crisis. Pakistan will give 2.58 million US dollars i.e. 72 crore Pakistani rupees to the families of Chinese citizens as compensation for the attack on Chinese citizens in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The decision to give compensation was taken in a meeting chaired by Pakistan's Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb.

Five Chinese citizens died in Pakistan

Five Chinese citizens were killed in a suicide attack in Shagalan in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, suicide bombers rammed a car full of explosives into a car carrying Chinese citizens travelling to Kohistan, causing the car to fall into a ditch.

There have been attacks on Chinese citizens before

On 20 August 2021, a suicide bombing was carried out by the BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army) in Gwadar targeting a vehicle carrying Chinese nationals. Then in April 2022, three Chinese instructors were killed in a BLA suicide attack at the Confucius Institute of Karachi University.

Why is BLA attacking the Chinese?

The citizens of Balochistan have been rebelling against the Pakistani government for decades for their rights. Apart from this, the 'China-Pakistan Economic Corridor' project is also underway as per the agreement between Pakistan and China. Balochistan is also included in this project and China has invested the most in Balochistan. BLA has been staunchly opposing this project for many years and has often carried out such attacks.
