An increase in their dearness allowance is going to be announced. The date has been decided. You will receive the gift before Diwali. There was a discussion going on for a long time that after dearness allowance becomes 50 percent, it will be reduced to zero. After becoming zero, 50 percent DA will be merged into the basic salary. But, from January 2024, 50 percent dearness allowance (DA Hike) is being given. But, it was not reduced to zero. Now dearness allowance is to be announced from July 2024. Its date has come.

DA increase for employees getting salary under the 7th Pay Commission can be announced in the cabinet meeting on October 23. Employees will be given festive season gifts before Diwali. This will also be paid in October only. Along with this, 3 months arrears will also be given to the employees. This arrears will be the difference between the old and new dearness allowance.
So now it will be zero or not?
Dearness allowance of employees will not be zero. Calculation of dearness allowance will continue. Actually, there is no rule regarding this. The last time this was done was when the base year was changed. Now there is no need to change the base year. Therefore, dearness allowance of central employees will increase at the rate of 50 percent.
This time dearness allowance will increase less
The AICPI-IW index data released between January to June 2024 has decided how much dearness allowance the employees will get from July 2024. Now it is the turn of its announcement. The date has been decided. You will receive the gift before Diwali. In January, the index was at 138.9 points, due to which dearness allowance increased to 50.84 percent. After this, the index stood at 139.2 points in February, 138.9 points in March, 139.4 points in April and 139.9 points in May. Following the same pattern, dearness allowance in April reached 51.44 percent, 51.95 percent, 52.43 percent and by May it reached 52.91 percent. The June figures finalized how much dearness allowance will increase. Due to the index being at 141.4 points in June, the dearness allowance figure has increased to 53.36 percent.

How much can dearness allowance increase?
There can be only 3 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). If this happens then the dearness allowance of the employees will increase to 53 percent. There is no possibility of it being zero. According to the current trend, even after the June numbers come, it will reach only 53.29 percent. Meaning it will increase by 50 to 53 percent. Dearness allowance is calculated from AICPI index. Inflation data collected from different sectors in the index shows how much the employees' allowances should increase in comparison to inflation.
Will be applicable from 1st July 2024 only
Dearness allowance for central employees was announced on October 23. But, it will be implemented only from July 2024. The intervening months will be paid as arrears. Under the 7th Pay Commission, AICPI numbers from January to June determine dearness allowance for central employees. Dearness allowance has reached 53.36 percent. In such a situation, this time an increase of 3 percent is certain. The total dearness allowance will be 53 percent.
