Dean’s responsibility to maintain SIMS is ensured, now Collector will not visit: Court

Bilaspur, 4th December (Hindustan Reporter) A PIL is being heard continuously in the High Court on the health-related conditions in Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences, Bilaspur. During the hearing in the double bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Kumar Sinha and Justice Amitendra Kishore Prasad, information was taken on Wednesday about the implementation of its order given on November 15, 2024.

Additional Advocate General appearing on behalf of the respondent State said that a new team has been constituted at SIMS Hospital Bilaspur for its proper operation and to provide all medical facilities to the patients coming here. It has been told that the news that was published regarding sonography machine, city scan etc. was clarified from the statements made in paragraphs 5 and 6 of the affidavit, in which the court expressed satisfaction and said that progress is being made. In view of this, we direct that the District Magistrate, Bilaspur should not visit SIMS. The situation will be further assessed if necessary pending further direction by this Court. The Chief Justice said the new team constituted in Bilaspur will have to take care of this and the Dean, Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences, Bilaspur will have to file his personal affidavit regarding the functioning of SIMS by providing all basic facilities and tests to the patients coming to Bilaspur. The next hearing on this matter has been re-listed on January 10, 2025.
