Tripura sons tied their mother to a tree and burnt her alive: A shocking case has come to light in West Tripura where two sons allegedly tied a 62-year-old mother to a tree and set her on fire. A police officer said on Sunday that the accused sons have been arrested. Police suspect that the incident was carried out due to a family dispute.

Police said that the incident took place in Khamarbari area of Champaknagar police station on Saturday night. After the death of her husband about one and a half years ago, the woman was living with her two sons. His third son lives in Agartala.

Jiraniya sub-divisional police officer Kamal Krishna Koloi said, “On receiving information that a woman was burnt alive, a police team reached the spot and recovered the burnt body tied to a tree. The body has been sent to the hospital for postmortem. We have arrested the woman's two sons for their alleged involvement in the case, he said. The accused sons will be produced in the court on Monday and a request will be made to send them to police custody for further questioning.
