Biharsharif, September 10 (HS). During a raid against illegal liquor in the Chero police station area under Nalanda district, miscreants attacked the police force late on Monday evening, in which six policemen were injured, who were admitted to the district hospital on Tuesday morning for treatment.
It is said that some people are consuming alcohol in the old house of Ramashray Paswan located in Chero village. OP SHO said that as soon as the raiding team reached near the old house of Ramashray Paswan, four people were found drinking alcohol in a room of the house and on seeing the police team, they threw the liquor bottles and glasses and started running away. When the police team caught the four people and asked them their names and addresses, there was a smell of alcohol coming from their mouth. The police team asked them to cooperate in the legal process and get the alcohol tested with the breath analyzer machine but the four people shouted loudly and gathered a crowd around them and along with the gathered crowd attacked the police team.
In this attack, the four persons along with the mob launched a deadly attack on the police team in which six policemen were injured. Meanwhile, the police team informed the senior officer for help of additional police force. Before the additional police force could reach the spot, the attackers fled away.
The injured policemen were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital. Police identified the attackers with the help of local watchmen and villagers. An FIR was lodged in Chero police station against 27 named and 40-50 unidentified persons in connection with the incident. The police is keeping a strict vigil on the situation and the law and order situation remains normal.
