Deadly attack on Buddhist monk, police accused of releasing the accused

Meerut, July 15 (HS). A case of attack on a Buddhist monk has come to light in village Panchali Buzurg situated in Sarurpur police station area. The Buddhist monk who reached the SSP office on Monday, accusing the police said that the accused were released from the police station itself. He threatened to commit self-immolation if no action is taken.

Buddhist monk Anukirti alias Ankit Kumar, resident of Panchali Buzurg village, reached the SSP office with people on Monday. He complained that he was campaigning for Vishal Bheem Jagran in Panchali Buzurg village with his companions on July 13. Then on the Kakkepur road, two youths overtook his car and stopped it and abused him and tore the flags on the car. During this, the accused misbehaved with the Buddhist monk and attacked him in a life-threatening manner. In which he got injured. After the complaint in the police station, the police took the accused into custody, but released them from the police station itself. The Buddhist monk said that if he does not get justice, he will commit suicide on July 18.
