Udhampur, May 24 (HS). Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai honored the girls volleyball team of District Udhampur in her office room on Friday.
The team recently won the final trophy of the 35th JK UT Volleyball Championship for Boys and Girls held at MA Stadium, Jammu.
This is the first time in 19 years that the girls team of Udhampur has won the volleyball championship. The DC congratulated the Volleyball Association of District Udhampur for the victory and appreciated their efforts to promote volleyball in the district. He presented a cheque of Rs 10,000 to the winning girls team. Apart from this, the Volleyball Association gave a prize money of Rs 11,000 to the team.
The Volleyball Association of District Udhampur appreciated the DC for his support to VADU and all the sports activities in the district.
On this occasion, VADU President Ashok Padha, Senior Vice President Sunil Sharma, Secretary Amit Chandra, Volleyball Team Coach Vinod Kumar Sharma, former National Volleyball Player Amit Sharma and the victorious Girls Volleyball Team were also present.
