Haridwar, August 19 (HS). District Basketball Association Secretary Sanjay Chauhan said that the Under 14 District Basketball Championship was played at St. Mary's School from August 16 to 18, in which boys and girls players from all schools of the district participated. As the chief guest in the program, Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan distributed prizes to the players and wished them well.
While addressing the program, he said that everyone should play. Playing leads to physical and mental development and makes a person healthy. A healthy mind resides in a healthy body and a person remains healthy. That is why everyone should play some sport or the other. He also mentioned many schemes being run by the government through sports. He said that the Khel Udyaman Yojana, Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana by the state government have played an important role in promoting sports in the state of Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand Basketball Association Vice President Vikas Tiwari said that the state government has just implemented the sports quota to promote sports, which will fulfill the dreams of thousands of players. He praised the scholarship being given by the state government.
Mainly Amit Sharma, Father of St. Mary's School, School Principal Prem Chauhan, Alok Singh, Manoram Sharma, Anuj Kumar, Mayank Kandhari, Akanksha Sharma, Sonu Shah, Aman Kumar, Kamal were present in the program.
The final match of the girls' category was played between DPS Ranipur and DAV Public School, in which DAV Public School won. The score was 18-7, the final match of the boys' category was played between DAV Public School and St. Mary's in which DAV Public School won one-sidedly, the score was 35-2.
