People suggested to keep Deepthi in an orphanage
Deepti was the first child of the family. When he was born, his parents discovered that he was intellectually disabled. At birth, Deepti's head was very small and her lips and nose were abnormal. Therefore, people advised Deepti's parents to send Deepti to an orphanage. But Deepti's father did not do this.
Deepthi's father's daily income is only Rs 100 to 150
Deepthi, who hails from Warangal (Telangana) district, spent her childhood in poverty. After the death of Deepthi's grandfather, the family had to sell the land. Therefore, her father's daily income was only Rs 100 to 150. Therefore, Deepthi's mother and sister also worked to run the family.
Gopichand's important role
According to Deepti's coach N Ramesh, the villagers used to taunt her that she would not marry because she is intellectually disabled, but her life has changed after winning gold in the Hangzhou Asiad. Deepti's talent was first recognized by PT teacher Gopichand in a school meeting. He asked the teacher to send Deepti to him in Secunderabad. They were told that Deepti did not have money to pay the bus fare. He spoke to the conductor and called Deepti to Hyderabad and later paid the bus fare to the conductor. Gopichand's organization is sponsoring Deepti.
With the help of Gopichand's Maita Foundation, Deepti was prepared for the international level. Deepti's coach says that Deepti is of very calm nature. Never complains of fatigue and the coach agrees to everything.
