Dashavatara Vrat is related to the incarnations taken by Lord Vishnu in different eras for the protection of creation and destruction of unrighteousness. On this day, the seeker should wake up in the morning at Brahma Muhurta and take bath. Wearing clean yellow clothes, offer Arghya to the Sun God from a copper pot.
Spread a yellow cloth on the post in the home temple and install the idol of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi or the picture of Dashavatar. Abhishekam with Ganga water and offer yellow sandalwood, yellow flowers, Tulsi leaves, Akshat and yellow fruits. After this, chant at least one rosary of the Mahamantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya’ while remembering the names of the ten incarnations of God.
In the evening, after Aarti, consume fruits and avoid food. Those who are not able to keep a complete fast, they can also get special blessings by reciting Dashavatar Stotra of Lord Vishnu on this day.
