Namibia Food Crisis: These days people are dying of hunger in the African country Namibia. There is a shortage of grains here due to drought. In such a situation, the government has ordered the killing of 723 wild animals to satisfy the hunger of the people. This includes 83 elephants and other wild animals. So that people can satisfy their hunger with the meat of these animals. This decision has been taken due to the food crisis caused by the severe drought going on in the country. With this decision, the Namibian government is planning to provide meat for half the population of its country. Killing animals in this way is called culling.

Anyway, you must have heard about the ancient times. At that time, cavemen used to hunt wild animals for their livelihood. Mammoths (a species of elephant) with long teeth were killed for food. Due to this, many species became extinct. Now this era seems to be returning in Africa.

People will eat buffalo, elephant and hippopotamus meat
Let us tell you that Namibia is facing the worst drought in the last 100 years. People are facing a huge problem of food and water. The grain warehouses have become empty. In such a situation, the government has given permission to kill elephants and other animals under the plan to provide food to the people. A total of 723 animals have been killed under this plan. These include 30 hippopotamuses, 60 buffaloes, 50 impala, 100 blue wildebeest, 300 zebras, 83 elephants and 100 elands (a type of deer). At the same time, more than 150 animals have died. About 63 tons of meat has been extracted from these killed animals.

Will reduce the impact of drought on wildlife
According to Namibia's Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, this is necessary and in line with our constitutional mandate. Our natural resources are used for the benefit of Namibia's citizens. A statement from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism said that it is hoped that killing some animals will reduce the impact of drought on wildlife. There are many areas where animals resort to killing each other due to lack of water.

Animals can attack settlements
Experts say that if resources are not provided to animals, they can attack human settlements and harm people. Therefore, it is very important to reduce the number of animals to deal with drought. Seeing the situation of drought, the United Nations should come forward to help. Australia also allowed the killing of kangaroos to deal with drought.
