Dalsa saved minor from child marriage


Ranchi, 20 April (Hindu). The team of District Legal Services Authority (DALSA), Ranchi, saved a 16-year-old minor from getting married on Saturday. The family members of the minor of Sarva Panchayat of Narkopi police station area of ​​Ranchi district were going to conduct child marriage. The marriage of a minor was on 22nd April. Preparations were going on at home. There was an atmosphere of excitement. The girl is a student of Mandar Kasturba. She was not going to school for a long time. The school management gave this information to Mandar's PLB Suman Thakur and Poonam Devi. PLB called village head representative Birendra Oraon and asked for information regarding the minor. Birendra told that there is a marriage in the minor's house, hence she is not going to school. Under Project Impact, when PLB reached the minor's village to check his presence, it came to light that he was married. PLB immediately informed this to Rakesh Ranjan, Secretary of District Legal Services Authority.

The Secretary spoke to Justice Diwakar Pandey. On his instructions, instructions were given to stop child marriage. Immediately BDO cum Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Mandar and Narkopi police station in-charge were also informed about this. Also, a meeting was held with the family of the minor in the presence of Kasturba school management, police of Narkopi police station, villagers, head representative and PLB. In the meeting, it was explained to the family members of the minor that child marriage is a legal offence. After this the minor's family agreed to stop the marriage. The minor also expressed his desire to study further. The team sent the minor to Kasturba School, Mandar for further studies.
