Chandigarh: In an interesting case, the Punjab and Haryana High Court (High Court) has ordered the Principal of Government High School, Jamalpur Awana, District Ludhiana to submit to the Registrar General Judicial of the High Court by May 31, 2025. Submit a report on the growth status of trees and plants planted in the school. Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Khetrapal of the High Court (Punjab Haryana High Court) issued this order while disposing of a public interest litigation. Ludhiana resident Swarn Singh filed a petition in the High Court alleging that the Principal of Government High School Jamalpur Awana District Ludhiana has cut down three healthy trees in the school. Which is adversely affecting the environment. In this case, the High Court had issued a notice to the school principal and sought a reply and the school principal has submitted a status report to the court through an affidavit along with some photographs, which shows that many trees are planted inside the school. Now installed outside.

Taking the said affidavit on record, the court said that there is no need to continue this petition and it is disposed of. However, the Principal, Government High School, Jamalpur Awana, District Ludhiana has been directed to be careful in future and take care of the trees planted inside and outside the school. The court has also disposed of the petition by ordering to present the status report of this tree in the court in the month of May next year.
