Let us tell you that no government or Reserve Bank of India can print as many notes as it wants. There is a special rule for this. The minimum reserve system determines how many notes the RBI can print in India.
This system has been in place in India since 1957. According to this system, the Reserve Bank of India has to maintain assets worth Rs 200 crore. This includes gold reserves worth Rs 115 crore and foreign currency worth Rs 85 crore.
Only after this much money is deposited, RBI is free to print notes indefinitely according to the needs of the economy.
According to the information, in the financial year 2021-22, Rs 960 had to be spent to print 1 thousand notes of Rs 10. According to this, the government has to spend 96 paise to print a note of Rs 10.
In the same year, Rs 950 had to be spent to print 1,000 Rs 20 notes. That means, it costs 95 paise to print one Rs 20 note.
In the year 2021-22, Rs 1130 had to be spent to print one thousand notes of 50 rupees. That is, RBI will have to spend Rs 1 and 13 paise to print a note of 50 rupees.
Similarly, RBI had to spend a total of Rs 1770 to print 1000 notes of Rs 100. That means RBI had to spend Rs 1.77 to print one note of Rs 100.
Talking about 200 rupee notes, Rs 2370 had to be spent to print 1000 200 rupee notes. That means RBI has to spend Rs 2.37 to print one 200 rupee note.
Talking about 500 rupee notes, in 2021-22, RBI had to spend Rs 2290 to print one thousand 500 rupee notes. That is, RBI had to spend 2.29 paise to print one 500 rupee note.
