Mumbai: Gold and silver prices rose in Mumbai's jewellery market today. World market news was positive. Market prices saw a rise today due to rise in domestic import cost along with the rise in world market. It was reported that today the price of gold in the world market rose from 2387 to 2388 to 2400 to 2425 to 2420 to 2421 dollars. Gold prices also fell due to fall in global crude oil prices in the wake of renewed tensions in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, silver prices rose by Rs 1,500 to Rs 84,000 per kg in Ahmedabad jewellery market today. While gold prices in Ahmedabad stood at Rs 71800 at 99.50 and Rs 72000 at 99.90 per 10 grams. Silver prices also rose by 27.89 to 28.76 to 28.64 to 28.65 dollars per ounce in the global market today following gold.

In Mumbai bullion market today, the price of gold without GST increased from Rs 69,086 to Rs 69,031, from Rs 68,405 to Rs 99.50. While the price of 99.90 increased from Rs 68680 to Rs 69364 to Rs 69309. Mumbai silver price without GST increased from Rs 81350 to Rs 83065 to Rs 82974 per kg.

Gold and silver prices in Mumbai were 3 per cent higher than this price including GST. There was news that crude oil prices in the world market have stopped falling and have risen sharply from a two-month low. Global Brent crude prices rose by $79.22 to $80.79 per barrel from $80.89. US crude prices rose from $75.36 to $77.50 to $77.27.

In order to control the import of gold alloys in the form of platinum alloys in India, the government has increased the import duty on gold alloys by 0.50 percent to 3.60 percent, including agriculture infrastructure and development cess of 1.40 percent. The government has made this new announcement on such imports under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Meanwhile, global copper prices rose 2.20 per cent today while platinum was at $975 from $955 and palladium was at $923-924 from $900-901. In the Mumbai currency market, the dollar was steady at Rs 83.72, while the pound declined by Rs 107.70 to Rs 107.44 and the euro was at Rs 90.65 from Rs 90.71. The global dollar index fell to 104.19 from 104.17.
