Crop remains burnt at ten places in Fatehabad, fine of Rs 15 thousand

Fatehabad, 12 October (Hindustan Reporter) With the commencement of harvesting work in the district, complaints of burning of crop residue have started coming to the fore.

This time till Saturday, the Agriculture Department has received a total of 10 complaints of burning of crop residues in the district. In which 4 complaints are from such places where information about arson was received on non-agricultural land.

So far crop residues have been burnt at 6 places in the district. On whom a fine of Rs 15 thousand has been imposed by the department.

According to Deputy Commissioner Mandeep Kaur, under the Crop Residue Management Scheme, Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code 2023 has been implemented in the district regarding non-burning of paddy straw.

According to this, whoever is found setting fire to the remaining paddy residue/stubble in his field, action will be taken against him under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code 1860. Deputy Commissioner Mandeep Kaur has instructed the officers/employees of the village level nodal officer, block level monitoring team and sub-division level monitoring team appointed under the Crop Residue Management Scheme to remain deployed in the field at all times in their respective areas.

Action should be taken against the farmers who are committing arson as per the guidelines of NGT. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Mandeep Kaur has called upon the farmers not to set fire to the paddy straw because it not only pollutes the environment but also destroys the friendly insects and other beneficial bacteria present in the soil which increase the fertility of the land. He has also appealed to the farmers to avail the benefit of Rs 1000 per acre under the scheme run by the government by making bales of paddy straw in their fields, giving it to the cowshed and storing it on Panchayat land. The incentive of Rs 1000 per acre to be given by the government will be given only to those farmers who will register themselves on the Farmers Department portal www.agriharyana.gov.in. Apart from this, he said that if there is not even a single case of arson in the Gram Panchayats falling under Red Zone and Yellow/Orange Zone, then an incentive amount of Rs 100,000 will be given to the Red Zone Panchayats and Rs 50,000 to the Yellow/Orange Zone Panchayats.
