Karnataka politics on MUDA scam: Karnataka politics is heating up over the issue of MUDA (Mysore Urban Development Authority). Due to this, speculations of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah losing his chair have intensified. According to the information, the party high command has also become active on this issue. However, no official statement has been given yet. It is being said that some leaders of the state are insisting on the name of Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge.
The Congress high command is planning to choose a candidate by consensus to avoid controversy. At the same time, the opposition is also constantly insisting on changing the Chief Minister. However, Deputy Chief Minister D. has been appointed in place of Siddaramaiah. No decision has been taken by the party yet on whether this post should be given to Shivakumar or a leader from the backward class should be given a chance.
Shivakumar's name is being discussed the most to replace Siddaramaiah. Along with this, the high command is also considering the possibility of giving this post to a backward class candidate. A group of party leaders is pushing Kharge's name forward. Apart from this, a group is also standing behind popular leaders like PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi.
According to the information, Jarkiholi had gone to New Delhi to meet senior leaders. With this, speculation has also intensified that the party has decided to give him a chance. Jarkiholi is said to have the support of more than 30 MLAs, including 15 Scheduled Tribe MLAs. His family also has three MLAs, one MLC and one MP. There is also a belief that the Chief Minister has close ties with Jarkiholi's family. Therefore, if the party talks to Siddaramaiah, Jarakhilo may be his choice. According to sources, Rahul Gandhi has also discussed political developments with Jarkiholi.
What is Muda?
MUDA is the short form of Mysore Urban Development Authority. This authority is an autonomous body for the development work of Mysore city. This case is a land scam. That is why MUDA's name is associated with it. The case is of 2004, when land was allotted as compensation from MUDA. Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister then. Social activists allege that irregularities were committed in this process. Due to which the government treasury has suffered a loss of crores. The names of top officials of MUDA and Revenue Department have also come to light in this case.
What is the whole matter?
MUDA acquired some land from farmers in 1992 to develop a residential area. Under this process, it was de-linked from agricultural land, but in 1998, MUDA returned some part of the acquired land to the farmers. Thus, the land once again became agricultural land. Till now everything was fine. The dispute started in 2004. Meanwhile, B. M. Mallikarjuna, brother of Siddaramaiah's wife Parvati, bought more than 3.16 acres (5 bighas) of this land in the year 2004. Meanwhile, in 2004-05, there was a Congress-JDS (Janata Dal Secular) coalition government in Karnataka. Siddaramaiah was the Deputy Chief Minister at that time. Meanwhile, it came to light that the land was once again set aside as agricultural land, but by the time the Siddaramaiah family approached to claim ownership of the land, the layout was ready.
What is Siddaramaiah's claim?
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claims, 'This piece of land, for which my wife got compensation, was gifted to her by his brother Mallikarju in 1998.' But RTI activist Krishna alleged that Mallikarjun acquired it illegally in 2004 and got it registered using forged documents with the help of government and revenue officials. The land was shown to have been purchased in 1998, it was in 2014 when Siddaramaiah was the chief minister, that his wife Parvathi demanded compensation for the land. Siddaramaiah says, 'My wife was given compensation when the BJP was in power and it was her right. It is the BJP people who gave her the site and now they are calling it illegal.'
