Purniya, 27th April (Hindu). The court has sentenced the murderer of cricketer and social worker Jai Singh to life imprisonment. Jai Singh was the vice president of Purnia District Cricket Association. He was also a good social worker. The entire cricket world and society was shocked by his murder.
In this murder case, the accused Naval Yadav, a resident of Purnia, has been sentenced to life imprisonment and a financial penalty of Rs 20,000 by the court. After being found guilty under the Arms Act, the accused has been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment and a financial penalty of Rs 10,000. Both the punishments will run concurrently. This punishment has been given by the court of Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge Abhishek Ranjan.
After the murder of Jai Singh, a case was filed in the police station by deceased Jai Kumar Singh's elder brother Sharmanand Singh S. Adgada Chowk, Ward No. 2, Police Station K. Haat (Madhubani), District Purnia. According to the FIR lodged, at 09.15 pm on January 23, 2021, Jai Kumar Singh was standing on the roadside at Adgada Chowk. Meanwhile, the accused came near him and abused him and said that you were celebrating the murder of my nephew Saurabh Yadav. Will send you also away from this world. As soon as he said this, the accused shot him in the neck. He died on 24 January 2021 during treatment. Manoj Yadav, co-accused in this case, was released by the court due to lack of evidence. The above punishment was awarded after the accused was found guilty on the basis of the testimony of the witnesses presented in the court by the prosecution and other evidence available on record. This case was being conducted by Additional Public Prosecutor Ataur Rehman on behalf of the organizing party.
