The ICC is working on a fundraising strategy worth at least US$1.5 million as part of saving Test cricket, which will increase match fees for players and prevent them from focusing only on the lucrative T20 franchise league.
According to the report, Cricket Australia has made this proposal, which has received the support of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and the England and Wales Cricket Board. The special fund will increase the minimum fees of Test cricketers and cover the expenses incurred while sending teams on foreign tours. This scheme will help cricket boards like West Indies whose players are giving more priority to global T20 leagues than Test cricket. After the formation of this special fund, all the players will get at least ten thousand dollars. Apart from this, some cricket boards which are struggling to go abroad for Test series will also benefit. Australian Board President Mike Baird made the proposal in January and he is happy that his plan is moving forward.
