Ranchi, October 5 (HS). Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, Ranchi has warned craftsmen and artisans on the occasion of Durga Puja. In the order issued by Board Member Secretary Rajeev Lochan Bakshi on Saturday, it has been said that artisans should not use thermocol in making any idol. Use only smooth and pure clay in making idols including Maa Durga and other idols. Plaster of Paris should also not be used in making idols.
Bakshi has also appealed that they should make the idols of Mata Durga and others in the traditional manner only. Talking about compliance with the 'Revised Guidelines for Idol Immersion 2020' published by the Central Pollution Control Board, the Council has asked to avoid the use of plaster of Paris, plastic and thermocol in the construction of idols.
According to the Pollution Control Board, only dried flowers, straw etc. can be used for making idol ornaments and natural resin for making idols can be used as a shining material to make the idols attractive. Use of single plastic and thermocol material will be strictly prohibited. Straw will be used only as an environmentally friendly material for idols made of straw, its decoration and decoration of pandals so that water pollution in water sources can be prevented.
Toxic and non-biodegradable chemical dyes and oil paints should not be used for painting idols. For beautification of idols, only decorative clothes made of natural materials and colors and which can be removed and washed should be used. The craftsmen or artisans making the idols should be registered with the civic bodies. If this is not done, it has been said that he will be banned from idol construction work for two years.
