Ranchi, August 30 (HS). The court of Civil Court's Justice Commissioner cum Special Judge of POTA case Diwakar Pandey on Friday found CPI Maoist's area commander Sunil Ganjhu and his associate Lokan Ganjhu guilty and sentenced them to eight years of imprisonment each. Along with this, a fine of Rs 50,000 each has been imposed on both of them. If the fine is not paid, they will have to serve an additional sentence of eight months.
The accused were absconding for a long time during the trial. The sentence was pronounced after their arrest. Special Public Prosecutor of the case BN Sharma said that an FIR was lodged against both of them in Hazaribagh's Ichak police station in the year 2002. On the midnight of 19 February, 2002, Naxalites of CPI Maoist killed two people. After this, bullets were fired on many passersby and police officers. Many police officers were seriously injured in this. The act of the accused was against the integrity, security and sovereignty of the country. In this case, 18 witnesses including current DGP Anurag Gupta, counter specialist Deepak Kumar Verma were presented in the court.
