The Chief Justice said that we want to see those ballot papers which have been rejected. The top court examined the ballot papers and said there were extra marks on eight votes cast in favor of the AAP candidate. CJI Chandrachud asked Aam Aadmi Party lawyer Gurminder about the candidates. The CJI said that the returning officer has drawn a line on these eight ballot papers. CJI asked Masih, you said that the ballot papers were getting spoiled, hence you made marks?

Let us tell you that on Monday the Supreme Court had given a huge blow to Returning Officer Anil Masih. The court has also said that a case will be registered against Anil Masih for interfering in the election process. The court said that instead of conducting a fresh election of the Mayor of Chandigarh, it should be done on the basis of voting to be held on January 30.

Let us tell you that the election of Mayor of Chandigarh was held on 30 January. In this election, Congress-AAP alliance had a total of 20 votes and BJP had 16 votes. If we look at the numerical strength, it was in favor of AAP and Congress but BJP won the election. In fact, the Returning Officer had declared 8 votes of the Congress-AAP alliance invalid and declared BJP's Manoj Sonkar the winner. There was a lot of uproar regarding this. A video was also shared and on the basis of it allegations were being made that officer Anil Masih had tampered with the ballot paper.
