Corona virus vaccine: Daughter dies due to injection, parents reach court against serum

Coronavirus Vaccine: The issue of side effects of AstraZeneca is under discussion. Meanwhile, there is news that a family has now approached the Serum Institute of India i.e. SII in the court regarding the death of their daughter. It is being told that the woman died a few days after taking the first dose of Covishield. Recently AstraZeneca has admitted that their vaccine may cause rare side effects.

According to a report, 18-year-old Ritaka Sri Omtri took the first dose of Covishield in May when the Covid outbreak struck in 2021. However, within seven days he developed a fever and started having trouble walking. According to reports, an MRI scan showed multiple blood clots and hemorrhage in his brain. The woman died within two weeks.

The woman's parents did not know the actual cause of death and filed an RTI in this regard. From an RTI filed in December 2021, they found that the woman was suffering from 'thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome' and died 'due to a reaction related to the vaccine formulation'.

A similar incident reportedly took place in July 2021. Meanwhile, Karunya, daughter of a man named Venugopal Govindan, died a month after taking the vaccine. According to the report, the national committee found that there was not enough evidence that the woman died due to the vaccine.

The special thing is that Covishield has been jointly developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. It was developed in India by the Serum Institute of India and introduced to the people of the country on a large scale. Oxford-AstraZeneca's Covid vaccine was launched in many countries around the world under the names 'Covishield' and 'Vaxzevria'.
