Dean Yoon said, “Ratan Tata served as a Cornell trustee three times from 2006 to 2022. He was named Cornell's Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013. He is the university's largest international donor. He has been the biggest supporter of scholarship, research and technology innovation to reduce poverty and malnutrition in rural India.”
According to the university's website, the Tata-Cornell Institute for Agriculture and Nutrition was established in 2008 with a $50 million grant from the Tata Trusts. This was a long-term research initiative and provided Tata Scholarships for students from India. In 2017, a $50 million investment from Tata Consultancy Services led to the creation of the Tata Innovation Center at Cornell Tech's Roosevelt Island campus in New York City.
