Cooks union submitted demand letter to the Governor through DC

Dumka, 16 February (His). Jharkhand State School Cooks Union AICCTU organized a strong demonstration at the district headquarters on Friday as part of the nationwide strike. Cooks working in various government primary and middle schools of Dumka and Pakur districts reached Dumka to participate in the demonstration program.

The members of the Sangh took out a procession from DC Chowk under the leadership of District Secretary Savitri Tudu and District General Secretary cum State Vice President Bhunda Baski. The procession reached the gate of Collectorate Dumka via Bus Stand Road, Nagar Police Station Chowk, Teen Bazaar Chowk, Main Bazaar. After protesting, the union delegation submitted an 18-point demand letter to the Governor through the Deputy Commissioner.

In the demonstration programme, demands were made to declare cooks as government employees, to stop giving the mid-day meal scheme to Akshaya Patra private company, to reject the centralized kitchen scheme, to increase the honorarium of cooks immediately, to pay Rs 21,000 instead of Rs 2000, to reinstate the removed cooks without delay. Demanded for payment of outstanding honorarium arrears in one lump sum, implementation of the negotiation letter dated August 3, 2023, withdrawal of four anti-labor labor codes, issuance of appointment letters and selection letters of cooks.
