Batala: A fight broke out between two groups in Bariyar village of Ghuman town of Batala over the last rites of a woman. The village bullies stopped the woman from performing her last rites in their cremation ground. Due to which both the groups came face to face and as soon as this was known, DSP Shri Hargobindpur and Tehsildar reached the spot with heavy police force and handled the matter.
There was a dispute between the two classes
According to the information received, Harbans Kaur, wife of Sucha Singh, resident of village Baryar, died. On Sunday, when the family members took the deceased woman Harbans Kaur to the cremation ground of the village, the powerful people of the village stopped them from cremating the woman in the cremation ground and asked her to be taken to another cremation ground. After which the matter heated up and the deprived and common people of the village came face to face.
The administration pacified the matter
As soon as the matter escalated, Tehsildar Archana Sharma, DSP Shri Hargobindpur Rajesh Kakkar reached with heavy police force. During this, people from the general category told that there are two cremation grounds in the village, one of which is for the general category and the other is for the people of the deprived community. Therefore, the last rites of a woman should be performed only in the crematorium of the poor.
Sarpanch Balwinder Kaur told the whole matter
On the other hand, village sarpanch Balwinder Kaur said that there is a pothole on the way to the second cremation ground. Where there are stray dogs all the time. That is why they have brought the woman here to perform the last rites. After the scorching heat and the insistence of the administration and police, the last rites of the woman were performed in the cremation ground of the general category.
DSP Shri Hargobindpur Rajesh Kakkar said that the matter has been resolved and the last rites of the woman have also been performed. Meanwhile, the entire village decided that from today there will be only one cremation ground in the village and the other cremation ground will be shifted to the park.
