New Delhi: Ganeshotsav is now in full swing across the country. Like hundreds of people, Chief Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud has installed Ganpati at his residence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed Ganesh Aarti at the CJI's house on Wednesday and politics has heated up on this issue. The opposition criticized this visit and said that it sends a different message. On this issue, the BJP hit back at the opposition and said that it is not a sin to attend Ganesh Puja at the CJI's house. Many CJIs have attended Iftar parties during the Congress era.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday worshiped Lord Ganapati at the residence of Chief Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud in New Delhi. PM Modi, who arrived at the CJI's residence, was warmly welcomed by Dhananjay Chandrachud and his wife Kalpana Das. This video has gone viral on social media.
As soon as PM Modi posted a picture with the CJI at his residence, social media went into a tizzy. Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said that such visits raise suspicion. He suggested that the Chief Justice should distance himself from the case of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. The Prime Minister went to the Chief Justice and both of them together performed Bappa's aarti. If the custodian of the Constitution meets political leaders in this manner, people will be suspicious.
RJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha said that the independence of every institution should not just be theoretical but also visible. Ganpati puja is a personal matter, but you are carrying a camera. The message it sends is disturbing. The Chief Justice of India and the Prime Minister are big personalities. So if they have agreed to release these pictures then what can one do. The opposition, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, created a ruckus on this issue.
However, BJP hit back at the opposition on this controversy. Lok Sabha MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra targeted the opposition and asked whether the Chief Justice did not attend the Iftar party organized by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh recently. Actually, they have an objection not to the visit of the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice but to Ganpati Puja. Along with this, he accused the opposition leaders of giving political color to any issue. Sambit Patra said, I wonder if you have an objection if Prime Minister Modi meets Chief Justice Chandrachud but you have no objection if Rahul Gandhi meets anti-India Ilhan Omar in America. BJP leader Kripashankar Singh said that making the Ganesh Darshan by PM Modi at the Chief Justice's house an issue of controversy is a foolish act of the opposition. May Ganpati Bappa give wisdom to such people.
PM Modi's visit to CJI's house is shocking: Prashant Bhushan
New Delhi: Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan said that the decision of Chief Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud to allow Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit his residence for a private meeting is shocking. PM Modi on Wednesday participated in Ganesh Puja at CJI Chandrachud's residence and performed aarti of the Lord. The video and picture of his visit went viral on social media. Regarding this picture, senior advocate Prashant Bhushan posted on X and wrote, PM Modi's private visit to CJI Chandrachud's residence sends a very bad signal to the judiciary. The judiciary has been entrusted with the responsibility to protect the fundamental rights of citizens from the executive and to ensure that the government works within the ambit of the Constitution. Therefore, there should be a difference between the executive and the judiciary.
